DirecTV is rated as the second highest MSO with 18,934,000 subscribers, as reported by the national cable and telecommunications association. DirecTV provides television and audio services to subscribers through satellite transmissions. Founded in 1994 by CEO and president Michael White, the revenue of the company up until 2007 was 17.25 billion.

Customer reports are very varied as they either love or hate the service. Those that are pleased enjoy the televisions quality and the customer service that the company prides itself on. Last year DirecTV was the first to deliver Easy-To-Understand-On Screen TV from common sense media. This service provides parents with easy access to detailed, age based information so that they can make appropriate programming choices for their families. This Parental Control feature is one that DirecTV has had extremely positive ratings and is one of the advanced technologies of the company. On customer rating websites, customers have been thrilled about some of the features of DirecTV. The DirecTV rebate has been a great deal that many customers are thankful for. Instillation is offered at no charge and many people are satisfied that HD and DVR come with the service as well. Bloggers that are dissatisfied with the service complain about billing problems with DirecTV. Other individuals complained that they were not receiving all the channels they had paid for in their package and it took forever for the company to come to their house and fix the problem.

A couple of trends that I noticed with the varying customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction websites were that it was very difficult to find satisfaction ratings given that there is a disproportionate amount of people that write positive ratings. Many of the ratings complained about customer satisfaction and a lack of care in general.

To get a more accurate reading of customer service ratings you can always check the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI); the results are from customer surveys. As a DISH Network employee, I know that DISH beats DirecTV in Value, Customer Satisfaction, and Loyalty.

Wanted to add this to my blog…

In an article found on the American Customer Satisfaction Index, it describes that DirecTV has fallen 4% in their ratings due to aggressive pricing promotions and a price increase on their overall products. Currently rated behind Dish, the company must attempt to change their prices or be willing to lose customers as a result.
